10 Narrated Weekly Letters From Me To You

I’ve been sending Weekly Letters to my email community since January 2015 now - that’s over 100 emails and it’s without a doubt one of my favourite things that I create and share through my business online.

Weekly Letters are where I share personal insights, words of motivation, and lessons I'm learning along the way in my creative journey so far. Weekly Letters are where we can hang out together and is my space to be a little more vulnerable, a little more open, and a little more in-depth with the insights and advice that I share.

I’ve recorded 10 of my favourite Letters from the past few months to share with you today, in the hopes that they can be some audio inspiration and encouragement for you next time you may be feeling a little lost, uninspired, or overwhelmed in your creative work and life.

How & Why I Prioritise Being In Alignment As A Creative Business Owner

Recently one of my clients asked me how I’m able to always be so positive when it comes to navigating the highs and lows that creative business can bring.

I shared with her that prioritising being in alignment and raising my emotional frequency is something I make space for each week in my creative work and life, and how it’s played a huge part in supporting me to embrace a positive and productive mindset along the way in my creative journey.

I told her that I don’t always feel positive and aligned - I navigate fear, stress, overwhelm, and anxiety just like the rest of us do - but on the whole I’ve found a way to manage these emotions and be bigger than them instead of them controlling me.

10 More Awesome Things My Clients Are Making Happen Right Now

One of my favourite things about the work I'm crazy privileged to do as a creative coach is seeing my clients astonish themselves.

I believe more than anything that we're all oh so capable of creating for ourselves an impactful, fulfilling, and sustainable creative life, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't take a whole lot of hard work, brave steps forward, and determination, devotion, and dedication to move us forward and bridge the gap between where we are now and where we want to be in our business and life along the way. We have to be courageous enough to go after the creative life we're aching for, and almost always we surprise ourselves as we start to discover what we're truly capable of.

Spending my days coaching creative women and supporting them to take those brave and bold steps forward is more fulfilling and meaningful to me than I could simply sum up in a blog post - I'm grateful every single day that this is the work I get to do in the world, and it's so inspiring to bear witness to my clients take ownership of their gifts, give themselves permission to build the creative life they're really aching for, and do brave, bold, and meaningful work in the world through their business and creative endeavours.

Last year I shared a post on 10 Awesome Things My Clients Have Launched, Made, & Created This Year and I'm following it up today with ten more awesome clients who are doing really awesome things in the world right now that I really want to share with you today.

Passion Isn’t The Only Foundation For A Big-Hearted, High-Impact, Crazy-Awesome Business

Because, sometimes, what you’re passionate about doesn’t pay your bills.

One of my awesome clients said something really interesting to me recently. She shared:

“Jen, I’m not passionate about work. I’m passionate about living my life, but that doesn’t pay the bills"

We went on to explore more of her business model, how it can continue to support her to do meaningful and impactful work in the world and live her life on her own terms along the way, and what she shared about her passion stuck with me long after our call.

Because in many ways, I can relate.

Make It Happen Season 5 Is Here!

I am super, super excited to share Season 5 of Make It Happen with you today...

I’ve been working on this behind the scenes for the past few weeks now and, just like with Season 4, I’m sharing all eight episodes of this season with you in full today. So if you’re a fan of the show, there’s lots for you to dive into and I really hope you enjoy what I’ve brought to life for this season.

The main themes of this season of the show are navigating seasons in our creative journey, showing up and giving our work and our life 100%, redefining the rules we set for ourselves as self-employed creatives, and reflecting and staying connected to ourselves in this journey along the way. If these sound like your kind of episodes, I really hope these resonate with you and support you to make things happen in your creative work and life on your own terms and by your own rules every step of the way.

Hold Space For Yourself

As a coach, a lot of the time the most important work I do with my clients is just holding space for them. Holding space for self-discovery, mindset shifts, productive action planning, and ultimately a transformation from where they are now to where they want to be in their creative work and life.

So much of the time we can feel like we need fixing, when in reality there’s so much more we can achieve by holding space and existing in that space instead of trying to fight our way around it.

If You Had To Give A TED Talk Tomorrow, What Would It Be About?

Ideas worth spreading.

That’s the TED Talk tagline. It also sums up in just three words my entire belief system when it comes to the work I do: I’m all about sharing and spreading ideas that encourage and inspire growth, discovery, and change.

We’re all showing up online to share ideas that we believe are worth paying attention to. It may be through the content we share to market our services, or a lifestyle blog where we share personal insights and lessons learned, or podcasts and videos where we make space for our message and our purpose to come to life.

And it’s awesome. Honing our message, creating content that resonates and connects, and being brave enough to really put our best, most meaningful work out there is what I spend my days doing - in both my own journey and as a partner in crime in my clients journeys too.

Here’s the thing I’ve learned: sometimes we create around our best ideas, instead of honing in on what it is really want to say and share. We fill space with content that isn’t fully doing our message and our voice justice, and we keep ourselves small by staying in our comfort zones along the way.

So my question today for you is this: if you had to give a TED Talk tomorrow, what would it be about?

Writing For Dream Clients: Five Exercises For Big-Hearted Creatives

On a recent coaching call with a client, we were talking about how easy it is to fall into the trap of writing for our peers and ourselves instead of intentionally writing to our dream clients. Although so much magic can happen when we create the type of content we ourselves would really like to read, if we want to utilise our digital space as a place to connect with the people we’d like to serve through our business, getting as intentional and focused as possible can make all the difference.

This topic comes up time and time again with my coaching clients. We’re always exploring together how to create content (whether it’s blog posts, podcasts, videos, newsletters, or even just Instagram captions) that truly resonates and connects with their dream clients and customers along the way. A homework task I often set them is a five-part content creation exercise with writing prompts to help them carve out some space to really bring to life pieces of content that speaks directly to the people they’re aching to work with. I put this together into a free email course over a year ago now and I want to share it again with you today in the hopes it can support you to create big-hearted content that helps you connect with your dreamiest of dream clients along the way.

Be The Boss & The Employee In Your Creative Business

There’s something I’ve been encouraging my clients to explore recently in their business and creative journey. I ask them:

"What would it look like to be the boss and the employee in your creative business?"

Because here’s the thing: I see my clients struggling over and over again with not feeling productive, feeling unsure of what to prioritise in their business, and feeling frustrated because they aren’t holding themselves accountable to the goals they set for themselves along the way.

With all the joys that come with being your own boss (being able to work in yoga pants from the sofa, being able to wake up whenever you want, never needing permission to take time off, the lack of limit on your earning potential) there are some struggles that come with this journey too.
