Your message and methodology is everything. It’s the foundation of your expertise, your ideas, and how your brand can serve your dream clients best. If you’re only guided by the ideas and methodology of others, your work is limited in how effective and impactful it can be. But when you tap into your own methodology and core beliefs, that’s when you build a brand that stands out from the crowd and attracts the right people for you. When you’re a B2C business, your message and methodology may range from anything from your approach to your industry and your craft, to the methodology behind your ideas and techniques, to the core values that your business is built on.
Your message is how you differentiate yourself from the crowd
Whether you’re a photographer, a health coach, a stylist, or a wedding planner, you can probably name at least 5-10 other people in your industry who are offering similar services to you. Alongside your story, your message if how you differentiate yourself from the crowd - and as we explored in the previous step, your message is ultimately shaped by your story and what motivates you to do the work that you do.
Your message is how you say something new instead of just repeating what’s already been said. Your message is what gives the work you do so much more weight than just being another creative service for hire - your message is what makes the work you do unforgettable and irreplaceable, because the only person who can do it like you do is you.
Your message is how you connect with dream clients and show them that you’re the right brand for them
Your message is how you attract the right clients for you. No two health coaches, photographers, interior designers, or nutritionists are made the same. Your message is how your dream clients see themselves in your work and your ideas, and it’s how they connect with what you do and trust that you’re the right person for them.
When you have a brand with a clear and purposeful message, potential clients and customers will be able to see straight away the value that you bring to the table with your work. A brand without a clear message is limited in the amount of impact and reach that it can have, so digging deep and understanding your message inside and out is key for attracting dreamy clients along the way.

What are the creative values that underpin everything that you do? So much of this will be rooted in your story and your purpose that we discussed in the previous step, so jot it all down and really build a clear picture of the core values that shape and guide everything that you do.

What core ideas and beliefs guide the work you do? What is your perspective in your industry? What is your specific approach to the work that you do? What core beliefs shape your methodology and how you show up and work with your clients?
