We’re now going to spend some time outlining your goals and intentions for 2017, so you can get laser-focused on what you want to make happen in the brand new year ahead. Use everything you’ve discovered so far in the A Wholehearted 2017 toolkit as your jumping off point - these will hopefully anchor you and give you clarity around what you actually want to prioritise in 2017.

1. Your business goals & intentions

Ask yourself:

  • What are my core business goals for 2017?
  • What are my core business intentions for 2017?
  • What do I need to make space for and prioritise to make these happen?

If you find setting concrete goals overwhelming and unhelpful, an alternative is to just outline what you want your “areas of focus” to be in 2017 instead. So instead of saying “I want to make “X” amount of income” you would put as an area of focus “Making a sustainable and profitable income in my business”.

2. Your creative goals & intentions

Ask yourself:

  • What are my core creative goals for 2017?
  • What are my core creative intentions for 2017?
  • What do I need to make space for and prioritise to make these happen?

Again, if setting concrete goals isn’t helpful for you, try setting areas of focus instead. The most important thing is that you have some clarity around what you actually want to do next year, so you feel focused and full of direction.

3. Your personal goals & intentions

Ask yourself:

  • What are my core personal goals for 2017?
  • What are my core personal intentions for 2017?
  • What do I need to make space for and prioritise to make these happen?

And just like with the other two, try setting areas of focus if setting goals doesn’t feel productive for you.

Something to remember

It’s okay if your goals evolve, change, and pivot throughout the year. None of us are capable of predicting a year in advance. The whole point of this step is to carve out some time to dive deep into what goals/intentions/areas of focus you want to set now, and then using them as a jumping off point throughout the year to stay focused on, and also to evolve on whenever you start to grow and move forward in your business too.

Next up I’m going to walk you through my process for quarterly planning so you can actually make your goals and intentions a reality along the way...
